WE ARE TAKING A YEAR HIATUS TO REVIEW OUR BUSINESS MODEL AND CONSIDER FRESH IDEAS FOR FUTURE SEASONS.
SKÅL is an intimate music venue on Vinalhaven, an island in Penobscot Bay known for its thriving lobster fleet, pristine cruising waters, stunning natural beauty, and authenticity.
Locally dubbed “the island speakeasy” for its unmarked and somewhat hidden entrance off Vinalhaven’s Main Street, Skål was the vision of Kris Davidson, a 7th generation islander and classically trained pianist, who was inspired to bring quality live music to the island on a regular basis. She teamed up with Stone Mountain Sound, NYC architects Maria Berman and Brad Horn of Berman Horn Studio, and island contractors, and as soon as Skål opened its doors in May 2019, it was an instant success!
Skål is located on Bodwell Lane in the back end of a beautifully restored 19th century building constructed by the Bodwell Granite Company during the height of the quarrying era on the island. Skål has dance bands, soloists, and everything in between, many performing original music. The talent and diverse music offerings have attracted audiences from near and far, and with numerous sold out shows every season it is obvious this little Maine island speakeasy has become a destination for musicians, music lovers, and all who enjoy community and fun.
Whether you come for music, locally inspired drinks and nibbles, or companionship, Skål is an experience you won’t forget. It feels as comfortable as your best friend’s living room, as exciting as an Irish Pub, and as sophisticated as a Parisian lounge.
